The Man at The Bar Last Night

I am sitting at the bar last night, listening to my girlfriend talk about work. Out of the corner of my eye I can see a man of about 60 years old listening intently. After she finished her story, I knew what was going to happen next.

“Excuse me, I don’t mean to ease drop but …”

Of course he was going to interject. He seemed to be a man of strong opinion and possibly well-informed. I sat politely as he begins to tell us stories about his ex wife, the military, the government, and past tenants he has rented property to.

He had the occasional interesting fact but he began to say things like “Nobody should be able to be president unless they served in the military.” And would follow it up by saying “I just can’t stand the God-damn Government.” ok….ok.

He clearly was the type of individual who tries to impart wisdom on innocent victims at the bar. After i corrected him about the presidents salary, Saudi politics, and Hannibal’s war tactics, he soon started to slow down.

Luckily my beautiful girlfriend stepped into the bathroom and gave me a phone call in which I could use to escape this never-ending lesson on the world.

Overall, I am glad to have met him.
